Museum of Reconstructed Memories
I am forever searching for fragments of memories from my childhood, a search that is ongoing and will never cease to end. All of my Great Grandmother’s belongings were lost in a robbery. While fleeting, feelings of fulfilment arise when an object that carries characteristics reminding me of my Great Grandmother is found. In an effort to recreate these lost objects of my past, I combine, change and mould them. However, the object can never be a true reflection of my past – it will always remain dream-like and somewhat disconnected from the truth. The search I undertake is very human; It is the desire to feel connected. The effort to feel what once was, will never be fully realised. Instead, I am left with a museum of fragmented and reconstructed memories.
